I've built internet technologies for fun and profit since the beginning of the millenium.
Tools I use often are: PHP, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, Bootstrap, vim, memcached, and git.
Places I've worked and things I've built are:
- Tumblr (Text-extraction, large-scale engineering, caching)
- Tourbinder (API's, Databases, PHP's more obscure functions)
- NYU (Data structures, algorithms, most of the university stuff you'd expect...)
- Myself (LISP dialects, Data mining, whatever new CSS /JS framework is en vogue)
Here is some code I have written!
I write essays, journalism, and fiction. Sometimes people are nice enough to publish what I've written. You can read some here:
I spend more time reading than I probably should. Here
is a list of some books I've been reading lately.
- Slouching Towards Bethlehem by Joan Didion
- The Best American Essays 2007
- The Marriage Plot by Jeffrey Eugenides
- There Is No Year by Blake Butler
- Working by Studs Terkel
- The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham
